Coach Dave Macary

12U | Head Coach

With over two decades of experience in youth baseball, Dave Macary brings a balanced and insightful perspective to coaching—one grounded in player development, umpiring expertise, and a deep love for the game. Dave has coached athletes ages 9–13 for more than 20 years, including four seasons with the NEA Wildcats program. His unique dual background as both a coach and a seasoned umpire (18+ years) allows him to teach the game from all angles, with an emphasis on baseball fundamentals, game IQ, and understanding the rules from an official’s perspective.

Dave is passionate about helping young players grow both on and off the field. He focuses on meeting players where they are developmentally, motivating them through challenges, and teaching them to turn failure into fuel for improvement. "Practice becomes permanent," he says, emphasizing repetition, discipline, and the importance of a positive, inclusive team environment.

As former President of the Windham Baseball League, Dave helped transform the town’s program into a competitive force in New Hampshire’s Little League scene—earning multiple district and state banners while also leading successful community fundraising efforts for causes like the Jimmy Fund and the Martin Richard Foundation.

Dave takes pride in building transparent relationships with families, communicating clearly about player performance, and creating a dugout culture that’s supportive, respectful, and focused on growth. Watching young athletes gain confidence, overcome adversity, and mature into well-rounded young adults is what drives his continued commitment to the game.

Outside of baseball, Dave enjoys family time, golfing, traveling, and growing his short-term rental business on Cape Cod. He’s also actively pursuing a long-held dream: to umpire at the Little League East Regional Tournament in Bristol, CT—an honor that would bring his Connecticut childhood full circle.
